Japanese Honeysuckle
Lonicera japonica

Honeysuckle is one of the most common weeds of the riverbank. Honeysuckle grows its vines over trees and shrubs and shades them.

Control: Cut the vines at the ground and at chest height. Spray the regrowth as it appears. Dead vines in the trees cause little problem and most native trees will soon recover once new growth is stopped.

Time to control: Where honeysuckle vines are sprayed with herbicide or cut off from their roots, they may take months to rot down enough to plant in the area.
