Habitat:
Grows on dry ridges, particularly where poor soil ensures less shade from competing trees. Lancewood has strikingly different juvenile and adult forms. The Juvenile has a single trunk with long straight leaves. The adult develops branches and has much shorter leaves. Both have tough leathery leaves
